In Europe, it is common to refer to UL/CSA certification whenever a product or machine is intended for export to the North American or Canadian market. But is UL/CSA certification mandatory?

Can a machine be exported to the US or Canada with CE marking alone?

What does a manufacturer need to do to sell machinery in the United States?

What is an NRTL?

These are some of the most common questions we hear. That’s why we’ve created a dedicated section with clear, practical answers.

Our goal is to support European and international manufacturers in achieving full compliance with US and Canadian requirements — starting from the early design stages to help save time and resources.

For over 10 years, we have collaborated with TÜV SÜD through our Italian company Advolo as a technical partner for machine inspections. With Advolo C-Corp, we take this experience further, supporting manufacturers all the way to the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and throughout the certification process with an NRTL.
