Functional Safety

Functional Safety ensures that systems and safety-related components respond correctly to failures and hazardous conditions, reducing risk and preventing dangerous situations.
It applies to machinery, industrial systems, and stand-alone safety components, focusing on the reliable performance of safety functions throughout the entire lifecycle.
We support the design, analysis, and validation of safety-related control systems and components, in compliance with the internationally recognized standard IEC 61508: the generic functional safety standard applicable across industries: automotive, machinery, process, railway, aerospace.
Different applications require different approaches to functional safety, below you can find more about the two Functional Safety harmonised standards for machinery application:
- Series EN ISO 13849 – Based on Performance Levels (PL), it is ideal for applications with defined architectures and typical industrial risks;
- EN 62061 – Also focused on machinery, but based on Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). More suitable for Electrical/Electronic/Programmable Electronic systems.
Not sure which standard applies to your project? In Advolo C-Corp we specialize in machinery and we help you choose the right approach from the start.
